Our history
It all started way back in 1872 when Robert Dyas set up his first hardware store. Since then, we’ve survived the post-WWI economic depression and the WWII blitz, which destroyed our head office, warehouse and 18 stores. In 1997, following a fire at our Croydon site, we relocated our head office to Leatherhead and in true Robert Dyas spirit began to reorganise and rebuild.
The turn of the 21st Century saw an exciting expansion programme, the opening of new stores and shaping of the business to meet modern day needs. In 2009, there was a successful management buy out and a new chapter in the Robert Dyas story began.
