Describe your career to date including why you joined Robert Dyas:
Having previously worked with the likes of MFI, Kingfisher and Guinness Brewing, I joined Robert Dyas in June 2008 as Chief Executive. Upon joining the business, I was immediately struck by the people that we employed - their friendliness, knowledge and passion for the business was overwhelming and I was very quickly made to feel at home here.
What does a typical day in your role involve?
The role of Chief Executive involves me heading up a team of over 1200 employees to drive the business and make Robert Dyas a regular shopping destination on the high street.
The majority of my role involves regular meetings with my fellow Directors and other colleagues at Head Office though when I’m not in meetings I allow as much time as possible to be spent in our stores. Our stores are the ‘temple of truth’ where I can hear from those working directly with our customers exactly what is going on in our business and where/what we need to improve..
What’s the best thing about working for Robert Dyas?
It is undoubtedly the people. We have a real family culture here at Robert Dyas. Everyone helps each other out and that makes for a great atmosphere and an unbeatable team spirit
